Today we went in search of bison. There are several trails in the N.P. and we opted for the trail that took us to the beasts. They run a breeding programme for the bison here in the park, where they have approximately nine hundred of them. There are only three thousand two hundred of them in the world. They weight up to a thousand kilograms when fully mature. We found them in an enclosure, as well as tarpans, wolves, moose, deer and a lynx. The track back was the most dangerous I have ever encountered. It was over boggy ground, much of which was supposed to be traversed over a boardwalk. fifty percent of which was missing, the other fifty percent being rotten. The boards were so slippery and angled that it was impossible to avoid slipping off. When we arrived back in the village we went to a little pizza parlour for a pint and a pizza. The pizza was the best I've ever had.
